Thrifter Companion (“Thrifter,” “we,” “us”) is a mobile
and web app that appraises second-hand items from photos and helps you track your finds.
This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Account information — your email address, and the display name and
profile photo provided by your sign-in method (Google, Facebook, or email/password),
via Firebase Authentication.
Photos you capture or upload of the items you want appraised.
Content you create — item identifications, estimated values, conditions,
tags, prices you paid and sold for, notes, stores, and shopping trips.
Diagnostic data — basic crash and error reports to help us fix problems
(via Firebase Crashlytics).
We do not collect precise location, contacts, or advertising identifiers,
and the app contains no advertising.
How we use your information
To identify and estimate the resale value of items in your photos.
To store and display your collection, wishlist, trips, and insights.
To process subscription purchases and manage your access to premium features.
To diagnose crashes and improve the app.
Third-party services
To provide the app, limited data is shared with the following service providers, who
process it on our behalf:
Google Firebase (Authentication, Realtime Database, Cloud Storage,
Cloud Functions, Crashlytics, Hosting) — hosts your account and content.
Anthropic (Claude) — receives the item photos and text you submit in
order to generate an appraisal. It is not used to identify you.
UPCitemdb — receives a barcode/UPC number you scan or enter, to look up
product information.
Google Play Billing — processes subscription payments. We never receive
or store your payment card details.
We do not sell your personal information.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account and all of its
data at any time from within the app: Settings → Delete account. This
permanently removes your items, trips, and uploaded photos from our systems.
Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Access is restricted by security
rules so that you can only read and write your own data.
Children
Thrifter is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal
information from them.
Changes to this policy
